DEASCENT

Eight hour-long action of climbing up to get down and climbing down using the escalators at the Power Station of Art, Shanghai, China, which became an exploration of the mechanics of attention, guest-host dynamics and the politics of politeness.

(Performed on November 10, 2018 from opening to closing time and documented by museum visitors, and surrogate-performed on January 20, 2019 by eight “deascenders”.)
