THE FOX(Y PROXY)
This piece extends the first performance I did in collaboration with my dog Coco, in which my task was to crawl after her while she freely explored the gallery space and I read to her chapter 21 of The Little Prince. Now, after Coco tragically passed away as a result of an attack by another dog in summer of 2018, I decided to start performing the piece with dogs who are strange to me as a first step to re-engage and re-establish ties with four-legged creatures. My first attempt at taming and being tamed was with Lola, a Yorkshire terrier living in Minsk, Belarus, who I read to in both Belarusian and English.
My second attempt was with Mine, a hyperactive Shiba from Kyoto, who I read in Japanese (sort of) as I stumbled around on my knees and my words all across the gallery space and offices of an art space in Osaka.
Third attempt was with Kira, a rescue from Tirana, who I read to in “Albanian” in the frame of a presentation of the Albanian iteration of The Path of Money at ZETA gallery.
